let's let it be over

Brooke and I drove to Columbia, MO today for a couple of meetings and I was amazed at all the election propaganda still up in people's yards and many other places.  My thought was, whether your guy won or lost, why keep this stuff up?

When we got home I found this video online and it answered my question, at least partially.

Interesting, in NZ we have a law that all election material has to be removed by midnight before the election or the offending party gets a $40,000 fine

wow, removing stuff before the election would never fly here because people would claim that a law of that kind was impeding their right to free speech.

i wouldn't be opposed to some sort of regulation which said that election material needed to be down within a certain timeframe after the election was over. again though, i'm sure folks here would pitch a fit and claim that it was violating their rights.

But surely the main campaign teams for both camps (not the ordinary 'Joe Bloggs') would take down their election billboards etc before the election, or at least on the day of it in the US??
